3D Specialist - Bas-Relief Point Cloud Conversion for Crystal Engraving

We are a niche manufacturer specializing in subsurface laser engraving of personalized crystal keepsakes. Our process transforms 2D portrait images into stunning 3D bas-relief engravings using precision point cloud modeling. We’re seeking a skilled 3D Specialist to lead the conversion workflow and deliver engraving-ready assets with exceptional accuracy and visual impact. Key Responsibilities: • Convert high-resolution 2D portrait images (JPEG/PNG) into 3D bas-relief point cloud models suitable for subsurface laser engraving • Apply depth mapping and facial feature enhancement to create realistic raised effects • Enhance image contrast and clarity to optimize depth extraction and model fidelity • Ensure output compatibility with engraving machine formats (e.g., OBJ, PLY, or proprietary formats) • Scale and align models to match specific crystal dimensions (e.g., 5cm cube, 8cm rectangle) • Perform quality checks to ensure model integrity, resolution, and engraving readiness • Collaborate with production team to meet turnaround times and maintain consistency across batches Requirements: • Proven experience in 3D modeling, depth mapping, or point cloud generation from 2D imagery • Proficiency with tools such as Blender, ZBrush, MeshLab, or custom depth conversion software • Familiarity with subsurface laser engraving workflows and machine file requirements (preferred) • Strong understanding of bas-relief modeling principles and facial geometry • Ability to work independently and deliver consistent, high-quality results • Attention to detail and commitment to precision in scaling and formatting' Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with portrait-based modeling or photogrammetry • Knowledge of OBJ file optimization and mesh simplification • Familiarity with crystal engraving constraints (e.g., internal reflection, depth limits) What We Offer: • Flexible remote work environment • Competitive project-based or hourly compensation • Opportunity to work on unique, high-impact personalization products • Long-term collaboration potential as we scale production
