Job Description
The Controller will oversee all accounting, financial reporting, and cash management operations for a growing real estate investment and development company. This position requires deep knowledge of real estate accounting, construction draw processes, and investor reporting, as well as hands-on experience managing multi-entity financials in QuickBooks Online (QBO). The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and confident managing both strategic oversight and day-to-day accounting in a fast-paced environment.

Core Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Management
• Oversee all general ledger functions including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Maintain corporate and property-level books in QuickBooks Online (QBO), ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
• Prepare consolidated financial statements and detailed supporting schedules.
• Manage accounts payable, receivable, bank reconciliations, and credit card transactions.
• Track and reconcile intercompany balances between entities.
Development & Project Accounting
• Manage construction draw schedules, capital calls, and loan requisitions.
• Collaborate with project managers, lenders, and investors on development budgets and funding.
• Monitor project cost performance and prepare variance analysis reports.
Cash Flow & Budgeting
• Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts and capital expenditure projections.
• Assist in preparing annual operating budgets for multiple entities.
• Monitor liquidity across projects and ensure appropriate funding allocations.
Compliance & Reporting
• Prepare quarterly and annual financial packages for investors and lenders.
• Support tax filings, audits, and coordination with external CPA firms.
• Ensure all financial reporting and covenant requirements are met.
Systems & Process Improvement
• Optimize QuickBooks Online setup for multi-entity operations.
• Implement process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency.
• Support integration with new real estate or accounting software systems as needed.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience in real estate development, investment, or property management.
• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) with multi-entity experience.
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
• Familiarity with construction draws, investor reporting, and joint venture structures.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently in a dynamic environment.
