Job Description
Position Summary: Penn Foster Group is seeking a compassionate and experienced full-time Medical Assistant Instructor to join our team! In this role, you’ll empower students to reach their learning goals while shaping course content to align with evolving healthcare industry standards. As a key member of our collaborative Healthcare Programs faculty, you’ll connect with learners through phone, live chat, email, appointments, and virtual office hours. Because our programs are fully online, you’ll play a vital role in supporting students’ clinical skill development—reviewing video submissions, providing detailed feedback, and leading live demonstrations to ensure skill mastery. Beyond the Medical Assistant program, your healthcare knowledge will help strengthen other Penn Foster Group healthcare courses, guiding the next generation of professionals across a range of disciplines. If you’re passionate about developing future healthcare professionals and thrive in a dynamic, online teaching environment, we’d love to hear from you! Essential Job Functions: • Maintain a full-time schedule to ensure consistent availability for students and team collaboration. • Support students through phone, live chat, email, scheduled appointments, and virtual office hours. • Evaluate exams and assignments objectively and consistently using established grading criteria. • Review student clinical video submissions within 5–7 business days and provide clear, actionable feedback. • Lead live demonstrations to verify student competency in clinical skills. • Engage learners on social media and online platforms to promote connection and success. • Contribute to other healthcare courses based on expertise and program needs. • Collaborate with colleagues and cross-functional teams on administrative tasks, special projects, and accreditation initiatives to ensure student and program success. • Complete all required training and professional development in accordance with institutional policy. • Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and institutional goals. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Career diploma or a minimum of five years’ experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting. • Active certification as a Medical Assistant through NHA, AMT, or AAMA. • Prior online teaching experience is preferred. • Experience and certification in Phlebotomy, Medical Lab Assistant, or other healthcare professions is a plus. Other Requirements: • Proficiency in computer skills with a willingness to learn new systems. • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities. • A team-oriented mindset with a collaborative work style. • Ability to thrive and multi-task in a fast-paced environment. • Excellent time management skills. • Access to reliable high-speed internet. About Us: At Penn Foster Group, we are transforming online learning to help learners by bringing together Penn Foster, CareerStep, Ashworth College, James Madison High School, the New York Institute of Photography, the New York Institute of Art and Design, and other education platforms. Together, we create an accelerated path to greater economic mobility through real-world skills and knowledge that enable learners to achieve long-term success in the workplaces of the future. Our history dates back to 1890 when our founder, Thomas Foster, pioneered distance education by offering training by mail for coal miners to get the necessary skills for safer jobs. Today, with the partners who use our education and training programs, we continue that mission of providing accessible training and education for in-demand skills and are building a workforce that’s prepared for the future job market. Equal Employment Opportunity: We strive toward Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Penn Foster Group by intentionally building diverse teams – in identities, lived experiences, and ideas to create a culture where people feel connected to each other and have a sense of belonging. We value diversity, equity, and inclusion because it is the foundation that enables us to achieve what we set out to do as an organization – from maximizing the number of learners who can reach their goals while giving them the kinds of experiences we want them to have, to becoming the type of company we want to work in. What We Offer: We offer a robust benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, flexible spending, generous paid time off, sponsored volunteer opportunities, a 401K with a company match, and free access to our online programs.
